Our Oven Cleaning Service FAQ

Are there dangerous fumes or does it smell when you are cleaning in my home?

No none whatsoever; the products we use are both fume and odour free.  The cleaning product we use is made by Astonish and is a vegetable paste.

Do you clean the inside of the glass doors?

Yes we clean the door completely leaving the glass completely dirt and grease free giving you a clear view of what is cooking in your oven.

Do you clean Stainless Steel?

Yes we use a silicon free stainless steel product that is the best on the market and brings it up so it is sparkling.

Can you explain your oven cleaning process?

Yes we turn up at your home in our distinctive liveried van wearing our OvenGleam uniform. We then confirm with you the price of your clean; this should match the price that we have already quoted you on the phone when making your appointment for your oven into be cleaned. We then remove anything that can be removed from the inside of your oven and take it outside and put them into a dip tank in the back of our van. We then clean the rest of your oven manually using elbow grease and the Astonish vegetable paste, cleaning it until it gleams. We then get the items from our tank, rinsing them off and drying them before putting them back into the oven to complete the job. The whole process takes in the region of one and half hours for a single oven, two hours for a double oven and two and half to three hours for a range cooker. We take payment in the form of cash, credit card or cheque.

I've been told that an AGA cooker is self cleaning so what does an AGA clean consist of?

The self cleaning part of the AGA is the inside of the ovens of a 2 and 3 oven AGA and ovens 1 and 2 on a 4 oven AGA. As they are cast iron and are maintained at a high temperature grease spills carbonises. These still need to be swept out, however, and the doors, the "tunnel" just inside the ovens, the inside of the doors, the underside of the lids, the top of the lids, the enamel top, the enamel front, the hinges and the inside of the third and fourth ovens on a 4 oven AGA still need to be cleaned. We completely remove all the carbon and grease from these areas and bring them up to a sparkling "as new" showroom .This takes in the region of 2 hours for a two oven AGA , 2.5 for a three oven AGA and three hours for a three oven AGA.The AGA will be left with a showroom shine on completion.

Do you clean Commercial Ovens?

Yes we clean small commercial ranges especially for Schools, Village halls, Sports clubs and social clubs etc. Please give us a ring on 0800 45 82 357 for details.

Would you recommend using a shop bought oven cleaner?

Well not usually. Generally oven cleaning products bought in shops tend to have a caustic ingredient. These products should be used with extreme care. Ensure that you follow the instructions given on each product. They may, if used incorrectly, take paint off your oven (especially SMEG ovens door sides). They will have very strong fumes and odour and as the cleaner has to be left overnight it can damage the enamel in the oven. Do not forget to use gloves. The products are often acidic and contrary to popular belief, if the acid spills on you, you may not notice it right away. Meanwhile the acid is burning your skin and by the time you notice the irritation, the damage has been done.

Do you have any top tips on keeping my oven clean?

Yes - lots. Wipe up spills on the inside of the oven and oven door whilst the spills are still in liquid form. Wipe the seal around the door with a gentle cleanser and the gasket with a damp sponge. Most oven exteriors can be easily and quickly wiped clean with a gentle cleanser or even a glass cleaner. Do not clean the exterior if the oven interior is hot. The heat with quickly evaporate the cleaning solution. Be careful scrubbing the exterior, they are often easily scratchable. Soak the burner racks in warm, soapy water. If you have a stove with a flat top - simply spray with a gentle cleanser and wipe dry.

Why Should I get someone else to clean my oven?

It's a dirty job, why do it yourself? Do you really want to bother with cleaning your oven? It is extremely difficult to get a good result yourself and you really have to be careful with the products that you use as just one spill with a shop bought product could cause damage to your kitchen and to yourself. We ensure that your oven is 'gleamed' of any food spills and splashes that can cause smoke and even set off the fire alarm. An accumulation of grease in extractors are known to be a fire hazard. Lingering food spills will also taint other meals being cooked in your ovens. We are also able to help you create the right impression when selling your home by presenting your kitchen with a 'gleaming' oven. Similarly many landlords use our service to ensure that tenants maintain the standards of hygiene that the landlord requires. Thorough oven cleaning once or twice a year, when actually needed, rather than putting it off, will ensure your oven lasts longer too
